Denver Clinic


Dusty - OrthoPets Denver

Dusty grew up in Kansas and moved to Denver, CO in 2004. She graduated from Bel-Rea Veterinary Institute in 2006 and pursued her career as a certified veterinary technician in Denver CO. Dusty joined OrthoPets Denver Veterinary Clinic in 2009. Dusty is Martin Kaufmann's lead V-OP veterinary technician.

Dusty has two boxers, Isabella and Rocky. They love fitness and outdoor activities together along with spending time with her husband.








Regan - OrthoPets Denver

Regan was born in California, but moved to Boulder, Colorado when she was five. She graduated from Bel Rea in 2004, and has worked as a veterinary technician over the last five years.

Regan is married, and has a daughter, Charlie. She has one Akita (Lola), one pug (Potomus), and two cats (Skirbbles and Favorite Kitty). Her immediate family is all here in the Boulder/ Denver area, so large family dinners are a common occurrence. In their free time her family enjoys reading together, baking, and playing outdoors in the mountains of Colorado.






Stephanie - OrthoPets Denver Supervisor



Stephanie has worked in the veterinary field for over 12 years.

She started as a veterinary assistant and decided going to Bel-Rea was a great way to get more information about the field. Once she graduated and became a certified vet tech, she went into general practice and spent 9 years in the field.


The last 2 years Stephanie worked in the emergency medicine field. She loves the changing field of veterinary medicine. Stephanie spends her off time hiking and being outdoors with her two dogs Maggie (in my picture) and Calvin.
She was excited to join the team at OrthoPets as their head technician for the Denver V-OP Veterinary Clinic. She looks forward to meeting future clients and learning all about this new field!








OrthoPets United Clinic


Amber - OrthoPets United



Amber was born and raised in Colorado. After graduating high school at 16 she found herself working part time in human medicine. Eventually she started working for a human prosthetic and orthotic company. When she graduated from Colorado Mountain College her and her boyfriend moved to Denver to continue their education at CU Denver. Amber joined the OrthoPets team in May of 2012 as an assistant technician. During her free time she enjoys exploring Denver with her boyfriend and their border collie. She also enjoys learning to swim!








Brook - OrthoPets United and Fabrication Team



Brook is a graduate of Metropolitan State College of Denver with a Bachelors degree In Biology, a graduate of Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology, has a certificate from the National Personal Training Institute, is NSCA and NASM-CES certified.  She has been working in the veterinary field for 8 years and as a personal trainer for 2 years.



She is excited to work for OrthoPets where she can use her knowledge to help improve the lives of pets and their families. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and taking her four dogs to the dog park. 








Danielle - OrthoPets United



Danielle graduated from Bel-Rea in 2006 as a Certified Veterinary Technician. She has worked in general practice, specialty practice and veterinary rehabilitation. Danielle joined the OrthoPets United team in 2013. Danielle loves working with people and their animals. As a Denver native, Danielle enjoys spending time with family, friends and her bearded dragon, Stewie and dog, Halle. Danielle also enjoys reading, snorkeling, swimming and the great outdoors.






Miranda - OrthoPets United

Miranda was born and mostly raised in Colorado, but spent a few years of her teens living in Alabama. She is a born animal lover and has grown up with dogs, cats, horses, and just about every other type of animal that you would find on a farm. Her passion is training and showing horses. When her miniature horse Moonie was injured while he was playing with another miniature, her family found OrthoPets where they made him a one of a kind Moon Boot. After seeing how they helped her little horse, she was interested in working for the company.
Miranda is currently attending Metropolitan State College of Denver where she is studying Business Management. She enjoys spending time outside, snowboarding in the winter and riding her horses in the summer.

 








Shawna - OrthoPets United



Shawna is from the San Francisco Bay Area of California.  She moved to the Denver area with her boyfriend in 2009.

Shawna graduated from an AsVMA accredited school for Veterinary Technology in 2003. She has almost 9 years of experience in emergency medicine and enjoys working in specialty practice. She saw that OrthoPets was an exceptionally unique company and jumped at the opportunity to help animals in a whole new way.

In her spare time, Shawna likes to continue her work in emergency medicine. She loves to draw and anything that has to do with art. She also enjoys exploring what Colorado has to offer with her boyfriend.








Silver - OrthoPets United



Silver was born and raised in Connecticut, and in 2004 moved out to Colorado to start a new adventure and has not looked back since. Silver has spent many years training horses, and managing horse boarding facilities. Silver knew she wanted a change and decided to go back to school. Silver graduated from Bel-Rea Veterinary Institute as a veterinary technician in 2010. She has experience with Emergency medicine, General Practice, Rehabilitation, and with an Equine practice. Silver has a large interest in patient rehabilitation and alternative therapies. When Silver has free time she enjoys hiking, snow shoeing with her boyfriend, and horseback riding. Silver is owned by her 4 cats, and her horse Athena. Athena was she rescued as an unhandled and malnourished foal.

Andrew - OrthoPets Fabrication Team



Andrew was born in Kansas and moved out to Colorado in 2010.

Andrew started working at OrthoPets Denver Vet Clinic, and now works in the lab. Andrew’s goal is to go through schooling to become a certified orthotic and prosthetic practitioner. He enjoys spending time with his two boxers and his lovely wife. In Andrew’s spare time, he loves outdoor activities.








Brian - OrthoPets Fabrication Team



Brian was raised in Idaho Springs Colorado and currently lives in North Denver with his girlfriend Jennifer and their Boxer/Aussie mix "Daisy". Brian's free time finds him enjoying fishing and camping in the summer and anything to do with snow in the winter. His formal training as an auto mechanic brought him into the OrthoPets family as an O/P Technician. Brian says, "This job is a lot like working on cars, except I don't usually come home from work bleeding and I get to wear sandals with socks and pajamas (scrubs)....it really is the best job ever!!!"

 








Jake - OrthoPets Fabrication Team



Jake is originally a Texas native, although has spent most of his life high in the mountains of Colorado. He is currently attending Colorado Mountain College, and plans to transfer to Colorado State University or CU Denver at the end of the year to study biology.

He enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, snowboarding, hiking, and playing with his best friend and companion, Atta, the bionic Border Collie. He has been working at Ortho Pets since August when he took Atta to get fitted for a knee brace. Future plans for Jake include the continued pursuit of education, living abroad, and spending time with amazing animals of all sizes, shapes, and species.








Josh - OrthoPets Fabrication Team Supervisor



Josh is a native to Colorado. Josh worked in the human field of orthotics for several years, and decided to bring his knowledge from the human field to OrthoPets. Josh is the supervisor of the lab.

Josh is a musical genius, playing various styles of music on both the electric and upright bass. He also enjoys kitty cats, and long drives to the mountains.








Karen - OrthoPets Fabrication Team



A born animal lover, Karen, has been in the "official" animal field for about 15 years. Most of which was at a general practice veterinary clinic where she had the pleasure of working with Dr. Mich.

Karen and Dr. Mich kept in touch after Dr. Mich left general practice; she was the connection that brought Karen to OrthoPets in May 2011. At home, her passion is training her shelties in dog agility. She is originally from Minnesota and is still a Vikings fan!








Rachel - OrthoPets Fabrication Team

Rachel is a 3rd generation Colorado native. She earned a degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology with the intent of being an animal cruelty investigator. However, after an internship in that field Rachel found her cases too heartbreaking. She moved on to work at Denver Dumb Friends League while training on the job to become a Veterinary Technician. She worked for Denver Dumb Friend's League for two years before moving to work in low-income veterinary clinics. Rachel enjoyed helping families with financial difficulties and their beloved animals. After working in the animal field since 2005, Rachel began working here at OrthoPets.

In Rachel's spare time she enjoys taking care of her chihuahua JoJo, former feral cat Romeo, Jada the cockatiel, and Theodore the most energetic tripod cat you’ll ever meet. In addition, she spends time outdoors hiking, biking, and roller blading.








Robert - OrthoPets Fabrication Team

Robert is a Texas native. He was born and raised in Houston. A lover of animals, Robert grew up with a beloved Chihuahua. Circumstances offered him the opportunity to begin working in the veterinary field when he started working at his first veterinary clinic, mostly in the kennel department. After working in the veterinary field for 2 years Robert found himself in a veterinary rehab clinic assisting the physical therapist. After working in the animal field for 7 years in Texas, Robert and his family decided to make the move to Colorado.

Robert enjoys spending time with his wife, daughters, Rosy the Puggle, and Lady the miniature poodle. They enjoy the outdoors by going camping, fishing, hiking, and biking. He also enjoys watching sports with the guys!







Amy and Martin Kaufmann - Owner and Founders



Amy and Martin grew up in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and moved to Denver, CO in 2002.

Martin and Amy started a fun hobby making orthotics and prosthetics for pets out of their 400 square foot garage in 2003. Martin went to school for human orthotics and prosthetics. Amy went to school for education, and was teaching in the Denver area. In 2007, Martin and Amy, made the leap of faith to quit their full time jobs and go full time OrthoPets. Martin and Amy partnered with Dr. Patsy Mich in 2009. Today, OrthoPets has 19 employees and moved into their new 5000 sq. foot clinic March of 2010. Martin and Amy enjoy spending time with their 5 year old son and two dogs.

Maria Caiozzo - OrthoPets Denver and Rehab Director



Maria, certified canine rehabilitation technician, began her animal rehabilitation career by attending the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2004. After attending the Introduction module, Maria was recruited by Dr. Janet Van Dyke to assist with the day to day operations of the institute. Within a few months, Maria earned the title of operations manager for CRI, Inc.

In 2007, Maria founded Balanced Canine Products, LLC (BCP). BCP is a therapeutic rehabilitation exercise equipment and modality company supplying rehab products to veterinarians and physical therapists around the globe. BCP Website

Maria’s latest and exciting endeavor has been moving her business to Denver, CO to partner with OrthoPets. Maria will head our new rehabilitation department. This new rehab department will support patients needing devices to function.

In Maria’s spare time, she enjoys all the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer. Maria also loves to cook Italian food!










Dr. Patsy Mich - Owner and Medical Director



Dr. Patsy is a Colorado native and graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1991.  She spent the first 14 years of her veterinary career in general practice and in 2002 became one of the few board certified specialists in canine and feline medicine and surgery in the state of Colorado (ABVP). 

In 2005 she returned to Colorado State University for a 3 year residency in anesthesiology and a 2 year fellowship in integrative pain medicine. 

In 2009 she became a board certified veterinary anesthesiologist (ACVA) and specializes in pain medicine and V-OP.  She is an acupuncturist as well as a certified canine rehabilitation therapist through the canine rehabilitation institute (CRI, Inc.).  She is on faculty at CRI, Inc. and is an affiliate faculty  member at Colorado State University.

Dr. Patsy is co-owner and medical director for OrthoPets; she sees all of the Denver Clinic patients and consults on virtual clinic cases. 

Dr. Patsy is always ready to snowboard, hike, cycle, and kayak.  She enjoys speaking and teaching about veterinary anesthesia, pain medicine, and V-OP.   Her favorite place to be at work is on the floor with the OrthoPets patients!
