Dr. Patsy Mich - Owner and Medical Director
Dr. Duerr - OrthoPets Orthopedic and Sports Medicine ConsultantDr. Duerr earned his veterinary degree in Germany. He completed his internships in Saskatoon, Canada followed by his surgical residency/master's program at Colorado State University. Dr. Duerr is the only practicing small animal veterinarian in Colorado that is double boarded by both the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR). He worked in private practice for four years prior to joining Colorado State University in 2011. Dr. Duerr's research focus is clinical studies aimed at improving animal health and quality of life related to orthopedic problems. His clinical interests include sports medicine and rehabilitation, cranial cruciate ligament injury including the investigation of alternative treatment methods, injury prevention, minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopy) and arthritis. Current research projects include the development of novel gait analysis techniques, evaluation of new treatment options for arthritis (surgical and non-surgical), and investigation of techniques to enhance bone healing. Dr. Duerr joined the OrthoPets team as their Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Consultant in the fall of 2014.
Dusty - OrthoPets DenverDusty grew up in Kansas and moved to Denver, CO in 2004. She graduated from Bel-Rea Veterinary Institute in 2006 and pursued her career as a certified veterinary technician in Denver CO. Dusty joined OrthoPets Denver Veterinary Clinic in 2009. Dusty is Dr. Tracie Grubb's lead V-OP veterinary technician. She is currently working on her certification in canine rehabilitation through CRI.
Dusty has two fun loving boxers, Rocky and Isabelle. Rocky is her athlete who is a full time ball player and Isabelle just loves her walks and lots of cuddle time. In her spare time, she is a crossfitter, runner, biker, and loves to hike the outdoors along with spending time with her husband and best friend, Andrew.
Her goals and passion are to help maintain and continue to help our family pets lead the active lives they deserve.
Stephanie - OrthoPets Denver
Stephanie spends her off hiking, biking, skiing and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. Henry (pictured below) joins her on most of her outdoor adventures. She has a 14 year old Chihuahua named Misty (pictured below), who spends most of her time hanging out and bosing Henry around. Stephanie also shares her home with two cats, Munchie and Jordan.
She is excited to continue her career as head technician in the speciality field of Pain management and Veterinary Orthotics and Prosthetics.
LiLen - OrthoPets United Case Manager
LiLen was born in Oklahoma, but moved to Broomfield when she was five. She graduated from Bel-Rea Institute in 2006. She has worked as a Certified Veterinary Technician for the last eight years.
LiLen is married and has a daughter (Jacey) and a son (Marek). She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, as well as her beagle Lola, rescued terrier-mix Dreia, and a rescued Angora named Rockstar. She loves working with animals and is looking forward to helping them achieve an enriched lifestyle through the help of orthotics or prosthetics.

Miranda - OrthoPets United Virtual Coordinator
Miranda graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2013 with a BS in Business Management. She enjoys spending time outside, snowboarding in the winter and riding her horses in the summer.
Olivia - OrthoPets United Case Manager
Olivia joined the OrthoPets team at the end of 2013. She has studied history and philosophy, graduating with a BA from the American University of Paris. A lifelong love of animals and nature led her to a career change when she decided to pursue this interest professionally and attended the Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology, graduating with an Associates of Applied Science degree and completing her technician certification. She began her veterinary career ten years ago working with small animals and exotics, and spending the last seven years in emergency medicine. Olivia finds contributing to mobility solutions for animals extremely rewarding and enjoyable. Personal interests include: gardening, camping, hiking, the arts, reading biographies, and cooking.
Shawna - OrthoPets United Supervisor & Communications Director
Shawna graduated from an AVMA accredited school for Veterinary Technology in 2003. She worked in the emergency and internal medicine field during school and continued in those specialties after she graduated. In 2011, she saw that OrthoPets was an exceptionally unique company and jumped at the opportunity to help animals in a whole new way.
In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer, decorating, cooking, baking, drawing and spending time with her husband, son and 4-legged children: Trixie (a terrier mix) and Aspen (cat).
Silver - OrthoPets United Case Manager
Rachel - OrthoPets United Case Manager
Rachel is a 3rd generation Colorado native. She earned a degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology with the intent of being an animal cruelty investigator. However, after an internship in that field Rachel found her cases too heartbreaking. She moved on to work at Denver Dumb Friends League while training on the job to become a Veterinary Technician. She worked for Denver Dumb Friend's League for two years before beginning her journey in low-income veterinary clinics. Rachel enjoyed helping families with financial difficulties and their beloved animals. After working in the animal field since 2005, Rachel decided it was time for a change and started her career at OrthoPets.
Rachel lives with her boyfriend Michael and her chihuahua JoJo, former feral cat Romeo, Jada the cockatiel, and Theodore the most energetic tripod cat you'll ever meet. In addition, she spends time outdoors hiking, biking, and roller blading.
Andrew - OrthoPets Fabrication Team
Andrew started working at OrthoPets Denver Vet Clinic, and now works in the lab. Andrew's goal is to go through schooling to become a certified orthotic and prosthetic practitioner. He enjoys spending time with his two boxers and his lovely wife. In Andrew's spare time, he loves outdoor activities.
Jake - OrthoPets Fabrication Team
He enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, snowboarding, hiking, and playing with his best friend and companion, Atta, the bionic Border Collie. He has been working at Ortho Pets since August when he took Atta to get fitted for a knee brace. Future plans for Jake include the continued pursuit of education, living abroad, and spending time with amazing animals of all sizes, shapes, and species.
Josh - OrthoPets Fabrication Team
Josh is a musical genius, playing various styles of music on both the electric and upright bass. He also enjoys kitty cats, and long drives to the mountains.
Karen - OrthoPets Fabrication Team Supervisor
A born animal lover, Karen had been in the animal care field many years before joining the OrthoPets team in May, 2011. Her skills took her into the lab where she now coordinates the whole fabrication process.
At home, her passion is training her shelties in dog agility. She is originally from Minnesota and is still a Vikings fan!
Leo - OrthoPets Fabrication Team
Leo is originally from Canon City, Colorado. He moved up north to Denver in June of 2006. Since his arrival, he has earned an associates degree in mechanical design and parametric modeling. Leo also launched his own small web-design/marketing business. Leo spend his days with friends, family, perusing interests, and furthering his skill and experience with mechanical design and engineering.
Nate - OrthoPets Fabrication Team
Nate is a native Coloradan and proud of it!! Nate has been riding horses since he was 1 1/2 years old. He received a degree in Equine Business Management and Training from Lamar CC in 2009. He is an all around animal lover!! Nate enjoys spending time with his dog Diesel. Nate is excited to be part of Team OrthoPets!
Robert - OrthoPets Fabrication Team
Robert is a Texas native. He was born and raised in Houston. A lover of animals, Robert grew up with a beloved Chihuahua. Circumstances offered him the opportunity to begin working in the veterinary field when he started working at his first veterinary clinic, mostly in the kennel department. After working in the veterinary field for 2 years Robert found himself in a veterinary rehab clinic assisting the physical therapist. After working in the animal field for 7 years in Texas, Robert and his family decided to make the move to Colorado.
Robert enjoys spending time with his wife, daughters, Rosy the Puggle, and Lady the miniature poodle. They enjoy the outdoors by going camping, fishing, hiking, and biking. He also enjoys watching sports with the guys!
Amy and Martin Kaufmann - Owner and Founders
Martin and Amy started a fun hobby making orthotics and prosthetics for pets out of their 400 square foot garage in 2003. Martin went to school for human orthotics and prosthetics. Amy went to school for education, and was teaching in the Denver area. In 2007, Martin and Amy, made the leap of faith to both quit their full time jobs and go full time OrthoPets. Today, OrthoPets is a fully accredited Veterinary Clinic. OrthoPets has 20 employees and resides in a 5000 sq. foot state of the art clinic. Martin and Amy enjoy spending time with their son and daugther!
Dr. Patsy Mich- Owner, Chief Medical Officer OrthoPets, Medical Director OrthoPets Denver Clinic
In 2005, pursuing her interest in improving quality of life for patients in pain, she returned to Colorado State University for a 3-year anesthesiology residency followed by a 2-year fellowship in integrative pain medicine. In 2009 she became a board certified veterinary anesthesiologist (Diplomate of the American College of Anesthesia and Analgesia link) specializing in pain medicine. She began using veterinary orthotics and prosthetics as pain management tools when she joined OrthoPets in 2009. In 2012, she became a certified veterinary rehabilitation therapist (CCRT) through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute where she is also an instructor. Patsy is affiliate faculty at her alma mater, Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine as well.
