From Terri and "George"
Hi,
It's me, George, swimming in my orthotic. Still have lots of snow but the river is open! My mom has worked me up to two hours of running in the snow. I absolutely love my orthotic and I sit like a good boy when mom puts it on. So far no problems, I do lick my carpus when Mom takes it off but no inflammation.
I did try to poke my eye out chasing a deer!!
Licks,
With thanks,
George the Dog

From Dr. Deb and Big
I have to fill you in... We went for our first "walk" in over 2 months!! He did so great. Two ~ half mile walks on our long driveway. Just a little redness at top of dewclaw, but I didn't restrict him, because he was so EXCITED. I am over the moon excited. He was so happy to be out in the snow. I can not tell you how grateful I am for what all of your team has done for Big. He is happy for the first time since in 2 1/2 months! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! Dr. Deb and Big From MN

From Robin and Pretzel the Wonder Dog
Pretzel and I wanted to thank all of the kind people at OrthoPets who have helped him regain mobility and enjoy pain-free exercise. Due to the unique shape of his legs (broken as a puppy), only a completely custom-made device would fit him. Within a week he had achieved a very natural gait while wearing the brace. Since Pretzel can now put his full weight on the braced left leg, his right front leg is also feeling better. We may eventually get a brace for the right leg also, if it is needed. He can now run at the dog park and play with kids until he is tired instead of stopping at 15 minutes because his legs hurt. After only a few days Pretzel recognized his brace as a signal that we were going to go do something fun and will bounce over to the door and raise his paw have the brace put on when I pick it up.

PS: Now that he is comfortable with the carpus brace, the dog is wildly exuberant as he plays. I am absolutely thrilled with the brace and the outstanding customer service.

From Todd, Jan, Jake, Nala-(16 yr old canine companion), and of course Jasmine
Click here to see a video of Jasmine!

Martin, Amy, Dr. Patsy, and OrthoPets staff, On behalf of our family and Jasmine, we would like to thank you so much for all you have done for our 7 year old German Short-haired pointer. Jasmine keeps improving daily. When she tore her ACL we really didn’t want to do the surgery route since she had just had surgery 3 months before to remove a 5 lb tumor attached to her spleen. In addition, we had heard horror stories of how the surgery is so hard on our 4-legged friends and the fact that sometimes it doesn’t take the first time and eventually you may have to do the other leg since it gets overworked. We really didn’t want to go through with this. We were reading an article called “Say No to Surgery” in the whole dog journal which mentioned your company and orthodics and how they have helped other canine owners in the past. Was I really excited to find out that you were located in our state, let alone less than 3 miles from our home. It was meant to be. In the 2 months since Jasmine has had her brace, she has gotten stronger and it doing so well. She loves to run and play with balls and hunt. Jasmine has not been able to hunt for over a year. 1) because she injured her knee a year ago and 2) because when she reinjured it, we weren’t sure she would ever be the same and we didn’t want her to hurt. After our visits with your wonderful staff, we were so excited to hear from Patsy that there might be a chance she will hunt again. This is Jasmine’s most favorite thing in the world to do. All we wanted as a family was for her to enjoy playing, walking and running like she used to, but to hunt would be tremendous. Jasmine has done so well in her rehabilitation because 1) she is eager to please all and 2) she really enjoys the exercises and the attention. Jasmine will be starting her hydrotherapy in just a couple of weeks to improve her strength and muscle tone. We can’t wait. She will do well as she has done thus far. We get lots of comments and people even pull over in their vehicles to ask what happened to her and where we got the brace when we are out walking. We pass on the name of your company to everyone we know. If there is ever anything that we can do for you, please let us know.

Thanks so much and keep up the good work.

From Chuck, June, and "Scarlett"

Dear Martin:

We are writing to whole-heartedly endorse your company, your products and you. As you know Scarlett, our 10-year old Weimaraner, ruptured her carpus tendon in June of 2007. After unsuccessful surgery to reconstruct her tendon she was left in a cast with little hope of any other solution than to surgically fuse the wrist, a less that certain surgery that would have cost an additional several thousand dollars. I searched the Web for an alternate route and found Ortho Pets. After many conversations (during which you and your staff were extremely patient and helpful) we decided to have you fabricate a solid carpus brace for Scarlett.

We had her orthopedic surgeon make the mold for her leg, sent it to you and you had her brace back to us in a matter of only 10 days! We put it on and Scarlett went to the park for the first time in over four months! Naturally, there was a little tenderness and we needed to send the brace back to you for one adjustment but since then Scarlett has been wearing the brace daily for her walks and playtime at the park. She has now built up enough scar tissue not to have to wear the brace around the house but it allows her to go on her daily walks with us and play with her brother Atticus the Boxer at the park.

We are so very pleased with the service and the results we got from working with you and your staff. You gave our beloved pet several more years of quality life and companionship. We hope others hear of your work and avail themselves of your services. If there is ever anything we can do to act as a referral or talk to any of your prospective clients please feel free to have them contact us.

We thank you and Scarlett thanks you.

Gratefully yours,

Chuck and June

From Heidi and Willy

Dear Martin and Amy,

I really can't say enough about your Company and the quality of service you offer. It is so unusual in this day and age to find a quality meticulous craftsman, in any trade. Your personal attention and wonderful braces are well worth the investment for those of us who love our pets! Willy is doing so well with his carpus brace. He doesn't limp anymore and I am sure he won't need any more anti inflammatory meds. I just can't thank you enough. Willy thanks you more!!

From Frances and "Cooper"
Hello Shawna,

I work with a lot of search and rescue dogs and their handlers and blown ACL/CCLS are ridiculously common. Most of my colleagues bite the big bullet and pay for the surgery on their working dogs but for senior dogs or non-working dogs, your brace represents a wonderful alternative!

I am combining your brace with swim therapy and resistance therapy and range motion exercises along with regular daily walks and I'm very pleased with the results. If I can prevent him from trashing the other leg's CCL before he dies in the next 3-5 years, and avoid putting him and me through the surgery (and weeks of incarceration afterward), then the brace will have accomplished a near miracle!

Specifically when it comes to Cooper, the stifle brace is a wonderful tool that allows my fun loving lab with the impulse control of a two year old human (blissfully ignorant of his advancing age at almost 11 years of age ) to have a rough and tumble life with his many canine roommates. Here's a list of all the things I like about it and there are many!

Theo
  • Exterior hardware takes a beating and doesn't even look scratched yet. (I can hear the sound as he squeezes next to wood fences and stucco walls that scrape the outside of his leg)
  • The design is relatively easy to use, and easy to keep clean.
  • Cooper got used to the brace VERY quickly. He stands (almost) still for me to put the brace on and he doesn't bark in my ear when I'm putting it on. This is amazing since dancing and barking is his normal response to almost everything. Since good things happen after we put the brace on (meals, walks, etc.) and I think he really likes it. I have never seen him lick, chew or fuss with the brace and that surprised me.
Love your design and I'm sure a lot of trial and error went into its creation. Thank you for all your efforts to date!

Frances and Cooper

From Lucimara and "Theo"in Brazil

Hello!

This is my Golden Retriever, Theo. Theo is now almost 2 years old. He was born perfect, but, his left paw was inadvertently damaged during the process.

Theo was given up for adoption. I was lucky enough to get him at only 28 days old. He started to grow big and strong and I realized he needed something to enable him walk, run, and play like "normal" dogs do. Theo couldn’t do it on his own. He would lay down most of the time because walking was too hard on him.

Theo Regrettably, in Brazil, we do not have many options available to us for our pets with disabilities. Thankfully, a friend introduced me to Nakio’s story. I contacted OrthoPets immediately and they helped me find a solution for Theo.

I can say that they have saved Theo’s life and have given him a chance to live a quality life. He is now able to walk, play, and go outdoors with his brothers, Josh and Costelinha. Theo now is good at chasing pigeons in the park! Yay!!

Thank you OrthoPets for all the attention and care you have given me and my baby Theo!

You are the best!

From Bethany and Zoe

Dear Mr. Kaufmann and Amy,

Attached find photos of Zoe with her brace. The first photo shows how happy she is to put the brace on. I think she knows that the brace keeps her steady. The next photos show her running around and jumping in the air catching her toy.

Because of her age, 12 1/2, I did not want to put her through the 6 months of slow recovery that is involved in a TPLO surgery (she has both meniscus and ACL tears). We had put my boyfriend's younger dog through TPLO--with great success--but I knew it would take a heavy toll on Zoe if she was forced to go through that recuperation.

The brace has been great. She took to it right away. She sidles up to me when I pick it up for our morning run/walk. Zoe has run with me every day since she was 1, so she actually became depressed when she could not run with me after her initial injury. Now she is able to do a run/walk with me every day. It's not as long or as fast as the "old days" but her spirits are up and she's happy and excited the whole way.

Thanks much!

Bethany and Zoe

From Lucia and "Barclay"

Hi Folks,

I had to write and tell you how well Barclay is doing since we received his ACL stifle (knee) brace. He's been wearing it since November 21 and he adjusted very quickly. When he tore the ligaments behind his knee the vet had not given me much hope. Barclay is 111/2 years old and due to some health issues was not a candidate for surgery. Now I am extremely pleased that we never took that route. The brace you made for him put him back on his feet immediately and he can return to his favorite pastime, patrolling the yard. His little sister, Betsy, is also very grateful to you because she has her playmate back.

I worked with Amy who was professional, compassionate and was able to put me at ease, which was no small task given my extremely distressed state. I can never thank you enough.

Most sincerely,
Lucia

Samson, a young German Shepherd
Click here to see a video of Samson!

Samson (approximately 5 year old male neutered GSD) was being fostered by a rescue group when he was first brought to TheraVet Acres Rehabilitation and Fitness on 6/22/11 for an initial exam. His right hindlimb is slightly shorter due to his malformed distal limb which is missing phalanges and lower metatarsals, but part of the metatarsal pad is present. Sampson was able to ambulate well with this limb but had some mild sensitivity in his right hindlimb while ambulating on gravel surfaces. He also has mild sensitivity upon strong palpation of the lateral aspect of his "stump". A year later on 6/7/12, Samson’s new owner brought him back to TheraVet Acres Rehabilitation and Fitness for a follow-up appointment, and a custom made OrthoPet below hock prosthetic device for Samson’s right hind limb was discussed. In late July 2012 measurements were taken and a casting was done for Samson’s prosthetic device. When the stage 1 prosthetic device arrived in August, it was an excellent fit. Pictures and video of Samson using the prosthetic were taken and sent to OrthoPets for review and evaluation. Two weeks later Samson had a recheck to determine how he was doing with his new prosthetic device. He had been wearing it for three to four hours a day and there was no wear or rubbing on his leg. More pictures and videos were taken and sent to OrthoPets for review and evaluation to move on to the stage 2 prosthetic device. As time went on Samson was wearing his prosthetic for most of the day and had adapted very well to the device. The stage 2 prosthetic device arrived two months later. It was approximately 1/2 “ longer on the upper portion of the device, but otherwise it was the same as the stage 1 device. The stage 2 device was also an excellent fit for Samson and a video of Samson using the new Stage 2 device was taken showing him at a walk, trot and run. Samson adapted very well to his custom prosthetic device and OrthoPets was a pleasure to work with.

From Peter and Miranda Ronning in Canada
Pupski Our dog, Pupski, ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament on her right hind leg in late April 2012. We had never heard of this type of injury before, but now, of course, we know it’s all too common. We took Pupski to several vets and received advice ranging from "wait and see" to "immediate surgery required." After a lot of research on the internet we concluded that we wanted to try using a leg brace to help her heal, before deciding on surgery. OrthoPets was one of the manufacturers we learned about, the reviews were good, and with some hunting we discovered that OrthoPets Canada is within a half-day drive of our home. By the time we showed up for our appointment with OrthoPets Canada, we knew that we wanted the brace, but the thorough examination of the dog and the explanations we received from Dr. Calverly added to our confidence.

Pupski We waited anxiously for the custom-made brace to arrive from Denver. There was a shipping glitch, but OrthoPets overcame that with fast work in Denver. Once the brace arrived, OrthoPets Canada showed us how to fit it on the dog and explained how to get her accustomed to using it. Since we received the brace, OrthoPets has been prompt to answer our questions as they have come up. The brace worked well from the beginning, but we did send it to Denver once for fine-tuning, and again OrthoPets worked quickly to get it back to us.

It’s now mid-August. It’s too soon to say what the long-term outcome will be, but wearing the brace Pupski has regained much of her former active life, and we’re very optimistic. We believe that the quality of OrthoPets product and the company’s support are a big factor in her recovery.

From Janet
Hi Martin,

RoxyMy name is Janet and my dog Roxy, has been wearing her braces made by your company for over 2 years. She tore the ACL in both knees about 2 weeks apart and would most likely had to have been put down if it were not for your braces. She is about to celebrate her 13th birthday and is still going strong. She runs, spins and jumps just as she did before her injuries. It only took her about a week to adjust to them and it’s all been uphill since then. She is cooperative in having them taken off and put back on. It’s almost like she knows they help her. Of course they look a little worse for the wear and I have had to replace the velcro straps numerous times but overall they are holding up great. I just wanted to share our story with you and let you know how grateful we are for what you were able to do for our pet. We enjoy every day we have with her.

Thank you,
Janet
From Cazzie and her Mom
Click here to see a video of Cazzie and her mom!

Martin, Martin, Martin,

Where do I begin?
You have given me my spirit and active lifestyle back! Let me start my story from the beginning. A hunter adopted me because I was named after my grandmother who had earned the honor of being one of the top 5 hunting dogs in the nation. I did inherit her hunting and pointing skills; however, I did not inherit her hearing. I decided that I did not want to hunt when guns were involved because it was just too painful. Three owners later I found a family that loves me for who I am, not for what they wanted me to be.

Everything was going along great and I was leading a very active lifestyle with my family, when I tore my Achilles tendon in January. I had been out of the cast for my left leg a week, when I tore the Achilles tendon on my right leg. The veterinarian thinks that it might be because I was on prednisone to suppress my immune system to control Masticatory Myositis and long term use of prednisone can make your tendons weaker. This is where Orthopets entered my life! After 6 months of a very hard time (i.e., inability to move, cast rub sores, stressing the leg that was not casted at the time, etc.), I had totally lost my spirit and was getting very depressed. Then to make things worse my mom and new orthopedic surgeon thought that the initial 2 surgeries didn’t work because of the amount of swelling in my hock and I was going to have to start all over again!:(

The orthopedic surgeon immediately sent me to Orthopets to get a hock and paw brace on my left leg to keep it from getting worse, while my right leg was still in a cast. When I went back to the orthopedic surgeon about a month later, he could not believe how much better my left hock (the one that had been in the brace) looked, the swelling had almost disappeared entirely. So he sent me back to Orthopets to get a hock and paw brace made for my right leg. He wanted me to wear them on both legs until we scheduled the surgery, to begin all over again. My mom could tell how sad I was about having to start all over again. So she asked the orthopedic surgeon if I could wear both of my hock and paw braces and just get to be myself for a month and then we would start the surgeries again, one leg at a time.

The orthopedic surgeon warned me that the hock and paw braces would not allow as much freedom as I was hoping for because of how fast I can run, he thought that they would rub and slow me down.

Well he was WRONG! However, he was right in the fact that I have very thin and sensitive skin and I did have a nightmare time in my old casts and splints with rub sores. However, that was not the case in my OrthoPets braces. I was able to run, jump, and point just like before in my hock and paw braces and NEVER got one rub sore, even my mom was shocked!

When my mom took me back to the orthopedic surgeon last week, his staff prepped me for surgery and he came in to tell my mom what would be happening during the surgery. She asked him to take one last look at how well I was walking on both of my back legs. It appeared that the hock and paw braces had allowed my Achilles tendons to continue to heal, while I was ACTIVE!! The orthopedic surgeon could not believe the improvement in the swelling and how well I walked and immediately cancelled the surgery. He said that maybe we were wrong and the Achilles tendons were not torn again, they just needed more time to heal. It appears that the hock and paw braces had allowed for the continued healing of the Achilles tendons.

WOW, was I pleasantly surprised! We left there and went right to Orthopets to get new mountain bike treads on my braces to support the active lifestyle awaiting me every day!!!

Martin you even told me that when my legs completely heal you can adapt my current braces to become sports braces by just cutting the paw portion off. I just wanted to thank everyone at Orthopets for giving me my life and spirit back!!! Well I have to run now, because I am having my fifth birthday party today and I have a t-bone cake with candles waiting for me! THANKS for EVERYTHING!

From Jen, Joe and Corn

Martin and all the wonderful associates at OrthoPets,

I wanted to write and let you know how much we love Corn's brace. Corn sustained a growth plate injury when he was a puppy. The injury caused a deformity in his front leg. Last year the injury started to compromise his activity. He was weak and extremely sore on the leg, that soreness was causing pain in his rear legs and his back as well. After six months of limited activity we were led to OrthoPets. We got his brace and he got back his life. He excepted the brace immediately. He is now back to hiking and fetching. We thought Corn's life would be very limited, but now he is back to all the activities he enjoyed.

Thank you very much for the personal care and the inventive brace.

Sincerely, Jen, Joe and Corn

From Tom, Deb and Wrinkles
Martin, I am sending this video of Wrinkles wearing his new Stifle ACL brace. On October 28th. Wrinkles ruptured his right cruciate ligament and the vets said he was to old to operate on and the outcome did not look good. The Vet told us that his ligament was most likely not going to heal. At this time he could hardly walk and was on pain killers, I found your company through research and talking to several vets, a brace seemed to be our only option. Thanks to you and your company's hard work and one refitting Wrinkles is almost as good as new. He is walking now and playing again, he still has trouble with steps but we help him with that. Again, thank you and all your employees for giving Wrinkles a second chance. Thank You, Tom, Deb and Wrinkles

From Judy

Martin,

I cannot thank you enough for giving Shadow the chance at living her last years doing what she loves to do best, and that is walk, run, her hunter instincts fulfilled! We opted for the overnight express option and received her stifle brace in 5 days...the pictures I sent you were taken within the first ten minutes of wearing it. She ran in our back yard, I took her on a leash through our woods for a half mile, and when we got back to our yard she ran up the patio steps to the pool area and went for a swim! My neighbors are astonished, as we all have dogs, and many of which have gone under one or two acl surgeries. The recovery sounds tough, especially for a dog my size, 105 pound lab. My vet does not do the tplo surgery, you go to an orthopedic specialist. After my consultation I decided to explore an alternative. You see, I have two sons who played and play currently high school football and excel greatly at their positions, so we have been a regular at our orthopedic clinic. Both my sons surgeon and sports medicine doctors are the team doctors for Florida State Football, and friends of mine as well. Before Shadow tore her acl, my son tore his acl, and he said that so many people live with a torn acl fine without surgery, it is only if you are playing sports and cutting as you run. This is why you see so many collegiate lineman now wearing knee braces as preventative measures. This all began to sink in, my son had the surgery, months of physical therapy, and we just picked up his 4th knee brace to play football in and I told the prosthetic maker about you and he was just amazed, as well as our vet, whom actually encouraged me to get a reference in which I did, I called the Colorado State University vet school, and darned if you weren't there at the time! My vet and myself are so amazed and impressed, I believe he will be contacting you! Shadow is an indoor dog, however in the morning when I get the brace out to go outside she lays down and sticks her leg out, it just doesn't get any better than this!

Mark and Sarah
Martin--just a quick update.

The device you built for Mia allowed her to run again. I can't tell you how much it meant to her and us that she was able to experience the thing that gave her the most joy during those weeks of September. At the start of our daily walks she had a spark in her eye that had been missing the previous months when her injury made it impossible for her to move beyond a halting walk. She clearly understood the relationship between the device and the freedom of running. When I'd remove it during the day for a short break she'd hover until I'd remount it. It didn't take long for it to become part of her.

On October 6 she had another Addison's crisis and on October 7th we lost her.

Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,

Mark and Sarah

From Edit

Martin,

Thanks for your feedback. I'll keep you informed about our life with the brace. You have made a very good brace and we are really satisfied with the brace. I hope you will get some new clients from Hungary too. I will recommend this to all my clients.

Best regards,

From Brian

OrthoPets staff,

Attached are 3 photos of Abby, playing at the park, with her ACL (Stifle) knee brace on.
She has been wearing it for a little over 3 months with great success. She was able to run and play with the other dogs, and is able to live a much more active lifestyle with the help of the brace.

Thanks so much,
Brian

From Jason, Natalia, and Buddy
I'm so glad that I found your website. Buddy has been wearing his ACL Stifle (knee) brace since November. At first I couldn't get him to put his leg down. He just stood in one place with his back left leg extended out. Once he got the hang of it, however, we started going out for walks. We noticed immediately that the limping almost stopped completely. He gets very excited now when we put it on him. He knows its time to go walking when he sees it. He has started to lose weight since he can now go walking with his stifle brace. Several people have asked me where I got the stifle brace including the staff at the vet's office. One of the vet's at the office asked me for your information so they can begin recommending your company to individuals like me with pets where surgery is not an option. My Buddy is my baby and seeing him in pain was painful for me. When I found your sight, I just prayed that this was the answer for my sweet baby. He's still getting used to his stifle but the improvement is definitely there. Thanks to everyone at Orthopets! He sends you lots-o-licks. Thanks, Jason, Natalia, and Buddy

From Leah and Family

Martin and Amy-

I wanted to take a moment to let you both know how wonderful the device is that you made for Rocky. It was so super nice of you to come to our home to cast Rocky yourself. It made all the difference in the world. He refused to use it at first, but now he is off and running. He literally uses it to run at full pace. I am still battling his flexion in his toes – not sure what the surgeon will do to try to correct that, but I am begging him to do something. Otherwise he will have to have a splint on pretty much during all of his waking hours. Since that’s the case for now, I am so grateful for such a superb fit and ease of use.

Thank you for your time, dedication and your willingness to help us and Rocky. We appreciate it very, very much.

Leah and family

From Bob

I want to thank-you for founding Orthopets. We recently purchased one of your stifle braces for our 9 year old White German Shepard (Hannah). The ACL knee brace has improved her quality of life tremendously. She adjusted extremely well to the brace and thinks she's a puppy. Just wanted to
say thanks.

Bob

From Kimberly

We received the stifle (ACL) brace for Jet today and applied it to her right leg according to your instructions. So far, so good! She was a trooper when we applied the brace and I gave her lots of love and praise until she got up and walked. She skimmed her toes and I kept telling her to "lift if up" (as a command. she is well trained) She did great! I think the hock velcro strap is too short. We will send pictures to get your opinion. She went out into the backyard and walked (without the limp she has had) and tried to chase the birds (as she used to). It was as if she had more confidence with the added stifle support even on the first 'outing'. We are pleased, to say the least. Will keep in touch and want to thank you soooo much for giving us hope for out older dog on a brighter future for her.

Appreciatively, Kimberly

From Courtney
Hi Amy,
I really appreciate the way you guys respond so personally to us. You are great to work with.
Thanks,

From Stephanie and Dakota

Hello Martin and Amy,

I wanted to say that I received Dakota's brace yesterday and it is perfect for her! I am sure that I will be sending it in from time to time for new tread because she is not the most graceful dog. So thank you again. I could not be more please with my experience from start to finish.

Stephanie and Dakota

From Ginger

Dear Martin and Amy....
The custom made hock brace you created for my chow chow Loki is amazing. It has totally changed his quality of life as far as him being able to run and play and all the other things that dogs are able to do, he can do! I am so happy I found you, You were quick to respond to any and all my questions, and the adjustments on the brace were fast and done perfectly! You are truly wonderful people.

Loki is just turning three years old this Nov. of '07 and due to a botched operation on his hip from his surgeon, he was left crippled for life. I was told I should consider putting him down or having the hind leg removed altogether.

Instead I found orthopets.com, and you changed all that, with the support of his new hock brace Loki is doing Great! He will live a full
long LIFE! He is the most lovable dog I ever had!

Thank You Martin and Amy.
Sincerely
Ginger

From Mark and Dr. Brown

Dear Martin ,
I am so happy that my patient Cadie is doing well – I was just thinking about her last week. I will be keeping this company in mind for future animals with erosive polyarthitis.

If you have the time it would be great if you could send photos of Cadie with her braces. This may also help future owners make informed decisions about how to treat their loved ones. We can make Cadie our ‘model’ dog.

Thanks again for the follow-up!

Dr. Brown

**

Hi Dr. Brown,
I wasn't sure if you would remember her. She is doing great. She has accepted the braces and is leading a happy life. Her front paw is now showing signs of the arthritis but so far so good. She probably won't be around as long as we would like but the braces have done wonders and I expect her to be with us for another year or so. I HIGHLY recommend Ortho Pets, they are fantastic to work with and really seem to know what they are doing. Cadie wore panty hose on her left leg. We did this at first to prevent rubbing or chaffing. We found out after a couple of days that she didn't need the panty hose since the braces fit well and were well padded.

Martin,
I wanted to thank you for all your help with Cadie. As you know, Cadie was diagnosed with erosive arthritis in her lower leg joints. Our vet said that it would progress to the point where she would not be able to walk possibly as soon as early summer. With the assistance of the braces you made her quality of life has improved tremendously. She runs, jumps and is a much happier dog. Here it is the end of June and we expect her to live a robust life far beyond the original expectation. The disease will eventually cause her to be immobile but the braces have not only enhanced her life but have extended it. You are your staff were very helpful, patient, professional and great to work with. I would recommend your services to anyone. Thanks again Martin!!

Regards,
Mark

From Johannes and Jade

Martin,

I just need to thank you again for being up all day long just for Jade and me. After I had stepped into your door all the agony and stress of that “road trip from Chicago to Denver" was gone when you greeted us in such a warm and friendly atmosphere. The whole experience in your workshop was wonderful and relaxing. I forgot that I was exhausted and I want to thank you for that. The way home was luckily uneventful, that means no break downs or other unhappy surprises. I would do that trip any time again, knowing what a friendly welcome will await us in Denver .
Thank you
Johannes and Jade

From Rich

Hello Martin,

The braces/boots that you made for Moose have made a huge difference in his life. However, lately, especially this weekend, he has just lost most of the strength in his legs. He now just drags his legs behind him after a very very short distance. In fact, he almost cannot walk at all without his braces. He still has his strength in the front legs. So I think it is time to get him a set of wheels for his rear legs that will take all of his weight. I am also trying to find one very quickly as Moose is pretty immobilized at this point. If it were not for his braces, he would be house ridden. With the braces, he can still go out and go to the bathroom and take a very short walk.
Thanks, Rich

Dear Ortho Pets:
Stu's brace arrived today. Thank you for being so prompt! He has missed it.
Sincerely,

From Pamela
Top of the day back to you, Martin!

Thank you so very much for your quick reply. I just left a message, following up on your suggestion that she mail the device back to you for a new tip and a smaller pad. Perhaps you could return the original because I am sure this giant puppy will grow into it quickly.

As an aside Martin, I have to tell you how delighted I am to be working with you. Your expertise is beyond anything I have ever seen. I know that I never have seen a prosthetist fabricate a prosthesis where the internal fit was right on the fist try. Not only were you able to do that, but you did it for a very rapidly growing pup who you have never met. In my opinion, extraordinary!!

Thank you as always for your dedication to this precious dog. His life is an absolute miracle and you and Lori are making that possible.

Please keep in touch and I will do the same. As you say, "Go Hagrid"!!!

From Matt

Hi Martin ... I would be happy to speak with the folks who live in my area near Atlanta. I would even let them see the brace on my dog and how well it works. I would not accept any compensation for this... you & your employees have been so good to work with. They can call me anytime!

Have a great day,

Matt

From Melissa

Dear Mr. Kaufmann,

I would like to thank you very much for creating the product you do to bring quality life back to our beloved pets. This past spring, our golden retriever Blu was diagnosed with glaucoma and cataracts. Do to his blindness, he missed a step and pulled his Achilles tendon. Thanks to your company, Blu was able to walk and maneuver better while dealing with the adjustment of decreasing eye sight.

Unfortunately, our beloved Blu passed away on September 29. He had a tumor that we did not know about. The tumor burst causing internal bleeding. The vet at the emergency hospital said the tumor was more than likely cancerous. We had to make the toughest decision of our life and decided to put Blu to sleep. He was 10 ¾ years young.

Once again, thank you for the wonderful service your company provides to handicapped pets.

From Susan

Dear Martin,

It's been a while since we were in touch and I wanted to write to let you know Bosco is doing much better! We're thrilled.

I believe it was the combination of rest (and that was very difficult), the brace you made for him, and the wonderful treatment he's received from C.A.R.E. (California Animal Rehab.)

Just as you'd predicted, it took all of the summer for Bosco to start walking more normally. He does not limp at all now.

There's a little clicking when he walks up the stairs, but he does not appear to be in any pain.

We occasionally use the brace for walks and longer car rides, but he seems to do fine without it these days.

We're so grateful you gave us an alternative to surgery, and we continue to tell people about the Bosco's brace and where he got it. Our vet finally understands that it helped to take stress off his good leg, and gave him support while he was recovering.

Again, thank you so much for all the great work you do!

Sincerely yours,

Susan

From Victoria and Jack

Hi OrthoPets,

My fiance and I purchased an ACL brace for our 8 yr-old, 110 lb., Malamute mix, Jack, in April of 2008. I cannot say enough about how the brace has helped Jack stay active and ultimately prolonged his life. I constantly recommend your services, particularly to other owners of large breed dogs. A year and a half later the brace is still working wonders! Jack is now 9 and still keeps up with his "brother" a 3 yr-old lab. The only problem is with all that activity the straps and velcro are looking a bit worse for the wear. Jack will wear the brace indefinitely and I would like to know if you have a way of replacing parts of the brace that wear down to make sure we can keep him in it and active for as long as possible. Any information on this would be of great help. Once again thanks for providing such a wonderful service!

-Victoria and Andrew
