Dr. Jonathon Block
A native of South Florida, Dr. Block grew up in the Fort Lauderdale area. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. While in veterinary school, he developed an affinity toward integrative therapies as a compliment to the general medicine and surgery of conventional medicine. He quickly realized that expanding his medical “toolbox” as an integrative veterinary practitioner will better prepare him to successfully manage the wide variety of cases that veterinarians encounter on a daily basis. This realization motivated him to become a certified veterinary acupuncturist and a certified canine rehabilitation therapist.
After beginning his professional career in Miami, Florida in 2010 at Knowles Animal Hospital, Dr. Block relocated to New York City where, from 2012 to 2018, he practiced general medicine, surgery and integrative therapies at The Worth Street Veterinary Center. During that time, he completed his acupuncture certification at The Chi Institute in Ocala, Florida and then his canine rehabilitation certification from The Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Coral Springs, Florida. Also in 2012, Dr. Block became a partner and veterinary medical director at Water4Dogs - Canine Rehabilitation Center in New York. After spending a number of years at Water4Dogs and seeing it develop into one of the most recognized stand-alone veterinary rehabilitation facilities in the country, he returned to his southern Florida roots to practice at Southeast Veterinary Neurology. Founded in 2010, Southeast Veterinary Neurology (SEVN) is South Florida’s leader in veterinary neurology, neurosurgery, and advanced imaging and, as the only hospital of its kind in South Florida, SEVN exclusively treats medical and surgical diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles.
